Some how there was a miscomunication and the original files got deleted from the SD card before they were actually backed up. So when it came time to proofing the photos before we sent them of to the client, no one could find the files. The 32 gig SDHC card the files were originally on had been wiped clean twice already from previous projects. Twice!!!!!
So what are the chances of recovering files? Hmm panic sets in so what does any tech savvy person do? Google up the problem and search for a solution! After a few minutes of searching using WOT ratings I ran into a site http://www.cardrecovery.com .
I downloaded the trial version, installed it and ran a quick search. Let me tell you, I was shocked to see files from a month ago populating the screen. Ok, so I’m asking myself how does an empty 32gig SDHC memory card all the suddenly show that there is 30gigs of images in it? That will have to wait till another day.
After 20 minutes, the search was done and the once empty memory card now showed that there were 700 recoverable files! Ahhh but the catch! Well as you might of guessed using the trial version I was only able to preview small thumbnails of the files, but next to the thumbnails you were able to see the file size of the originals.
I was one “Buy Now” button away from being a believer. So the end of the story? For $39.99 I was able to salvage a huge project and save our relationship with a very important client. Thank you technology, Google, and WinRecovery.
